If you live in Bridgeland, you already know what a special place it is. The lakes, the trails, the sense of community — it's genuinely one of the best master-planned neighborhoods in the entire Houston area. And if you've been thinking about adding a pool, you're not alone. A backyard pool is one of the most natural extensions of the Bridgeland lifestyle.
We've been building pools in this community for years, and we know it well — including how the HOA process works, which lot configurations come with specific challenges, and what styles tend to look their best against the architectural character of homes here.
Bridgeland spans over 11,400 acres in Cypress, Texas, developed by Howard Hughes Communities. It's consistently ranked as the top-selling master-planned community in the Greater Houston area, and it's easy to see why. With more than 900 acres of lakes and waterways, 3,000 acres of parks, trails, and open space, and amenities like the Lakeland Activity Center and Dragonfly Park, the community is designed around outdoor living from the ground up.
Bridgeland is divided into four villages — Lakeland, Creekland, Parkland, and the newer Prairieland Village — each with its own distinct feel. Schools are served primarily by the highly rated Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, with portions of the newer sections in Waller ISD.
The community has also seen significant commercial development, with Bridgeland Central bringing dining, retail, and services closer to home. The Houston Texans recently announced plans for their new global headquarters in the Toro District within Bridgeland — which tells you everything you need to know about where this area is headed.
This is something worth understanding before you start designing. Bridgeland has a wide range of lot sizes depending on which village and which builder you're in. Homesites range from 40-foot-wide lots on the smaller end all the way up to 80-foot lots in certain sections. Lot depths typically start at 125 feet.
On a 40-foot or 45-foot wide lot, you're working with a narrower backyard, and that shapes the pool conversation. A traditional 15,000-gallon pool is often too wide for a comfortable fit once you factor in setback requirements, decking, and room to move around. That doesn't mean you can't have something beautiful — it just means the design needs to be smarter.
For narrower lots we often talk to homeowners about:
On a 55-foot, 65-foot, or 80-foot lot, you have real design freedom. These are the lots where we can deliver a full resort-style backyard — a generous pool, attached spa, tanning shelf, fire features, outdoor kitchen, and covered patio all working together as one cohesive space.
Not sure what your lot allows? Our designers will review your survey and HOA deed restrictions as part of your free consultation. We handle the Bridgeland HOA approval process on your behalf, so you don't have to figure it out yourself.

Bridgeland homes tend to have a clean, modern aesthetic with strong architectural detail. The pools we build here reflect that. Geometric designs with clean lines, frameless glass spillovers, and large-format decking are popular. So are freeform designs that soften the space and complement the green surroundings near the trails and waterways.
A few things we include as standard that most builders charge extra for:
"We used The Pool Man to design and build our outdoor pool, hot tub, kitchen, patio, cabana bath and storage. They were communicative and professional through the whole process. Wes was our sales and design contact, and David was our contact superintendent during the build. They were both patient while working through our HOA approvals, communicative on scheduling and progress expectations, and overall great to work with. This was honestly one of the best experiences we have had with contractors ever and THE best experience in Texas by far."

If you're in a new build or recently purchased from one of the community's builders, there's a good chance your backyard is a blank slate. That's actually the ideal time to add a pool — before landscaping goes in, and sometimes while construction financing can still be leveraged.

One of the questions we get from new Bridgeland homeowners is whether it makes sense to start a pool while the house is still being built, or wait until after closing. In most cases, starting the conversation early is the right move — and it's something we've done dozens of times in communities like this one.
Here's how it typically works:
We coordinate directly with your builder's team. Our construction superintendent communicates with your home builder's superintendent to sequence the work properly. Pool excavation, plumbing rough-ins, and equipment pad placement all need to happen at specific points in the home construction timeline. When everyone is on the same page, the whole process is smoother for you.
We understand deed restrictions and HOA requirements. Bridgeland has specific rules around pool placement, setbacks, equipment screening, and fencing. We know them, and we handle the HOA application process as part of your project. You won't be left navigating that paperwork on your own.
We don't hold up your closing. A well-timed pool build can actually be completed before your certificate of occupancy, so you move into a home that's already pool-ready. When that's not possible, we sequence it to minimize disruption after move-in.
Builders trust us because we make them look good. When a builder recommends The Pool Man to their buyers, they're putting their reputation on the line. We take that seriously. Our job sites are clean, our crews are professional, and we communicate consistently with everyone involved.
If your builder hasn't mentioned us yet, feel free to reach out directly. We'd be happy to discuss your lot, your timeline, and what's possible in Bridgeland.
