Upon his retirement, Robert was in the swimming pool industry for 43 years. He founded The Pool Man in 1981, with the promise to deliver outstanding swimming pool service to customers in Houston and the surrounding areas. With a dedicated staff of 30 employees whom he treated like family, and a customer roster of thousands of satisfied customers, Robert searched for years to find the perfect person to carry on his legacy. After multiple offers, he finally found that person and sold The Pool Man to Paul Oman (owner of Texas Pool in The Woodlands) in March of 2024. Robert and his wife Merrie retired at the end of September, 2024, leaving the company is the most capable of hands. He still comes by the office every Friday morning, hosting a men’s prayer group and visiting with all of the office staff.
